Thank you for praying for us!
Updated 4-29-2009 Praise God for churches that have asked us to come and speak on such last minute notice! (See deputation link at right!) In Prosser 3 kids raised their hands indicating that they had said the sinner's prayer for the first time. Praise God, and now please be in prayer for their discipleship. Praise God for a wonderful District Assembly on the Northwest District. God brought a lot of wonderful people together for teaching and encouragement in making disciples. Kudos to Rev. Randy Craker and Mr. Earl Carpenter and their teams! Praise God for health back in the family again! Our last dental bill should be coming through soon - ouch! Pray that everything gets reimbursed properly. We have been surprised at how little we are being reimbursed for some things, but we do know that God is in control of finances! :) Please pray for some very good friends of ours. Dan Hogsett, father of my good friends Steve and LeAnne passed away today. Dan was an awesome Christian man, but the family must learn to live without his wonderful guidance and encouraging spirit. Thank you for your prayers. We still have no word on our visa applications. The projected date is late May or early June. We are ready any time, so pray that God will show us what He wants with this period of time. Our hearts are full of praise to God and His family. We have met so many incredibly supportive people. I even got a phone call from Eugene yesterday who I met at Garden Grove, CA. He said he saw my picture hanging in his house and just wanted to call and encourage me! Wow! :) Since you have bothered to read this far I must thank you for your support as well! (No one else would have made it to here!) :) God be with you! Updated 4-10-2009 Praises filled in below! Praise God that He continues to provide! We have had several people say they wanted to provide on-going support for our ministry in different ways. We thank God for those who see how they can extend their minstries around the world through Nazarene Missions, and through our family. Pray that Rosie will do really well on her upcoming tests. She has three really big tests that she needs to take this year, and the first one is coming up soon! Please be in prayer for Nazarene World Mission leadership. They are struggling at this time with what to do in this global recession. We know that God provides, and that we can rely upon Him, so pray for that Providence. Leadership is looking at a 10 percent cut to all mission budgets. They are trying to minimize the direct impact felt on the field, but such deep cuts will have ripple effects. Pray for those people in California, Pennsylvania, and Oregon who have recently felt God calling them to His Mission in a new way. This is probably a scary yet exciting time for them. Pray for the ability to see God's confirmations in their lives, as well as a protection from the darts that Satan will throw their direction. Could you please be in prayer in a special way for my direct supervisor, Dr. Geneva Silvernail? She has recently accepted teh position of "Principal" (like President) at the Bible College. She is taking over in a time of extreme need, and she will need wisdom and the ability to make good relationships during this time of introduction. Pray for the native workers at the Bible College. Because of severe budget cuts the $1,500 to keep them employed each month is gone, and these valuable and skilled workers may be lost to the college. This owuld be a blow to their family of course, and it would also be very unfortunate for the college, as these men have proven to be very good and reliable workers. Pray for the Northwest District missions meetings. This is our home District, and they usually have great meetings. Pray that God would continue calling people from the Northwest into full time ministry. Praise God for safe travels and healthy children! As of late March: Wow! This Pennsylvania trip has been really neat! Several people have said they feel called to full time mission work, and many others say that God spoke to them through this time. We praise God that He finds us useful tools, and since speech was my worst grade in college we also claim what Paul did, that God can work through our weaknesses to bring glory to His name! Praise: God is good, and this District Tour was a great blessing to us, and Martha Walters said that it was a blessing to them as well! God is good! Pray that we can finish the week with even more committments and exciting stories about God working on the Philadelphia District! Praise: Yes! It was a great finish to a wonderful week! We are tired now, and enjoying a bit of rest -- and trying to get Grace caught up on school work! Pray that our visas get processed! They took almost 30 days to get to Mount Hagen in "Express Mail!" That gave new meaning to "express" I think! Marsha McCoy now has the paperwork, but there is a lot more to do, and April 17th is looking REALLY optimistic now! Praise: We have been invited to another Faith Promise in May. We will not be leaving April 17th, and we are looking for reasons why. One may be to help get MNBC some much needed teaching materials before we leave! Pray for great airline ticket prices! It is pricey to get to remote areas! For for Grace and Anna. They are both sick, and sleep is a little rough! While writing this one of them just lost breakfast -- gotta go! See ya! -- They got well, but Grace seems sick again! Pray for Ryan, Kathy, Collene, David, Jackie, and others who have heard God leading in a really direct way. Pray that they overcome to opposition from the enemy, and that communication remains clear between them and our Lord. Grace has dental surgery on Thursday, March 12th. It looks rather extensive and she will have general anesthetic. Please pray for her. -- Big praise: Things went very very well. The cost was a little less than we thought. Request: INsurance does not want to cover the anesthetic, even though that is the oinly way the dentist said he would do it. Hmmm... :) We pray that God's money does not have to be wasted, but we thank Him for allowing our little girl to be worked on while staying with Rosie's family. Praises! God has allowed us to reconnect with some wonderful families! It is neat to see God at work both at home and far away! Our van seems to be holding up pretty well. We may need new brakes! A wonderful Idaho tour that allowed us to meet new friends and spend time with old ones as well! Health! Our family has been doing really well health-wise. This despite spending some time with some rather sick people! :) Learning more about our new jobs! God has allowed us to meet with the Myers while in the Northwest, and then the Winters, who are shipping our personal items to PNG, and we have learned all kinds of new things from the field, as well as met some new friends. God is good! If you ever want a direct prayer update just email us at Dave@OurKerrFamily.com or Rosie@OurKerrFamily.com. Please pray for long-term prayer partners! Living in Miami it was much easier to keep in contact with people and let them know what needs we had, and to keep prayer support fresh. Now that we will be in Papua New Guinea we will have far less direct contact with our home District and others that have been so faithful to hold us up in prayer. This is our biggest request, as we know that prayer accomplishes much! We know that God provides the money when we are faithful to follow His calling. Even so, the $45,000 goal that is needed for the ministry in Papua New Guinea seems like a lot. Please pray for people that feel this ministry is worth the investment, and that those who give will recieve great reward in this world and the life to come. Health! Rosie and I have seen so many missionaries have to return because of health-related issues. In fact, one of the couples leaving PNG is doing so for that very reason, and one of the men we worked with in Miami almost died in PNG several years ago from something he contracted while out in the bush. Of course we are more concerned with the health of Grace and Anna as well. Schooling for Grace and Anna. The current situation is that they will be able to finish out the year using curriculum provided by the amazing school they attended in Miami (Rainbow Christian Academy). In PNG there is a school for missionary kids, but it is one or two teachers in one room for 1-8 grades. (Volunteer teachers are always in demand by the way!) :) Old: Thank you for your prayers! We had some really wonderful services with GREAT missions supporters! (Filling our deputation schedule - especially January and early February.) They are in Medford now! -- Actually I helped load them on the container just last week, so they are probably on a boat now! (Moving our goods from Miami to PNG effeciently and cost effectively is also a priority right now.) Yay! It is all in the mail! We heard it may be hard to get Visas in time, so please pray along those lines! (Rosie needs to be sure that all of her medical paperwork is notarized and sent to PNG. Please pray for favor for Rosie with all officials responsible for dealing with all of this paperwork. ) Thanks for your prayers! Language acquisition and ministries are on our minds the most right now. Here are links to some interesting things that we have found. |
